Day +97 | Stem Cell Transplant

Day +97

Three days away!
Three post away!

Today wasn’t our usual Monday.
Started off with a flat tire.
Thankfully daddy can do everything & fix everything & we still had time to get coffee & make it to the appointment on time.

We added in a 4 hour IVIG infusion today at the day hospital for low IGG levels.

Kruz has thrown up 4 out of the past 5 days. He’s also had diarrhea, we thought it was from the orange juice he was having to drink due to low potassium levels but after our doctors looked him over, checked labs, etc. They said he probably has low cortisol levels, probably due to his disease, Schimke’s. When they tapered steroids, his body couldn’t produce the steroids he needs so symptoms for that are stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, low BP... were getting labs but went ahead and started hydrocortisone today & will continue to take & slowly taper off.

WBC 2.7 (down but okay)
Hemoglobin 11.4 (okay)
Platelets 185 🙌
ANC 1.63 (normal but low)
Lymphocytes (T cells & B cells) 0.35 (350)

Steroids are keeping the numbers down. I’ve asked a million and two questions, our doctors said he’s doing perfect, looks perfect, and counts are fine.

He will start producing his own red blood cells, much needed T cells and IGG. Those are the important ones we need kick in, but also knowing these take time.

He’s producing his own platelets which is amazing and normal range.

Did you know as his new marrow continues to harvest & produce red blood cells he will change from his A+ blood type to my O+ blood type? Eventually he will totally change to my blood type & we will pretty much be genetically identical in immune systems.
Cool huh? 😎
